HP EliteBook 8440p review 2011, The 8440p uses a powerful component. The processor is a mobile version of Intel's Core i7, runs at 2.66 GHz. Turbo Boost support will continue to increase the clock speed for better performance in single threaded applications. This alone is enough to fly through most tasks, but HP has gone a step further, installing windows 7 Professional to a 160GB solid-state hard drive. The consequences are dramatic multimedia performance in our benchmarks exceeded our reference desktop system. While 4 GB memories, 32-bit operating system can not access it all. Multitasking was still impressive but with multiple processor cores.

Connectivity to 8440p is excellent. One of the four USB ports will function as an eSATA port, there is mini-FireWire, multi-format card reader, an ExpressCard / 54 slot and a DVD re-writer. HP has chosen DisplayPort output instead of HDMI to add, but VGA is also included. There's even a fingerprint reader for security. We found especially thoughful touches like light mounted above the screen to illuminate the keyboard when working in low light.

The screen has a matte finish, which diffuse sound reflections, keeping the screen visible even under bright office lighting. Viewing angles were very good, colors were inaccurate only at extreme angles. More than 180 degrees of tilt provide a vertical angle for all environments. Picture quality is average, though, with an average brightness and somewhat dull colors.
